Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide free estimates?

Initial telephone and photo reviews are generally provided without charge. Projects requiring travel, extensive measurements, patterning, or design consultation may require a consultation fee.

Any applicable fee will be explained before the appointment is scheduled.

What information should I provide?

Please provide the boat’s make, model, year, location, photographs, and a description of the requested work.

Do you only work on boats?

In a word, no. We also provide services to aircraft, automobiles, agriculture, and many other upholstery and canvas needs.

For specific applications, we would only use products certified for that use. (e.g., FAA-certified products for aviation, etc.)

Do you work at marinas?

Yes. Marina access, parking restrictions, insurance requirements, gate access, and travel expenses may affect the estimate.

Do you repair existing canvas?

Yes, when the existing material remains strong enough to justify repair. We will recommend replacement when repair is unlikely to provide reasonable service life.

Can you reuse my existing foam?

Possibly. Foam will be evaluated for moisture, deterioration, compression, shape, and comfort. Foam that remains in good condition may be reused.

Can I provide my own fabric?

Customer-supplied materials may be accepted in limited situations. They must be appropriate for marine use. Work made with customer-supplied material may have different warranty terms and handling charges.

How long will my project take?

Timing depends on project complexity, material availability, weather, boat access, and the current production schedule.
You will receive an estimated timeframe before approving the work.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. Most custom projects require a 50% deposit before materials are ordered or production is scheduled.

Do you offer rush service?

Rush service may be available depending on the project and production schedule. An additional charge may apply.

Do you guarantee your work?

We stand behind our workmanship. Warranty coverage and exclusions are described in the project agreement.
Damage caused by neglect, improper storage, severe weather, accidents, misuse, mold, animals, or failure of existing boat structures is not considered a workmanship defect.

What areas do you serve?

We serve boat owners throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta, Contra Costa County, and surrounding Northern California boating communities.
